nikki & tim. valdosta wedding photographer

nikki and tim had the perfect southern wedding complete with tradition, spanish moss, shrimp & grits and sweet tea! nikki was stunning in her classic lace gown, and the way tim looked at his bride was so endearing. then there was the incredible excitement and support that their family and friends shared for them! it was really amazing to be a part of nikki and tim’s day, filled with such overwhelming love.

monsoon season

so apparently colorado has a monsoon season…really. i’ve actually heard several t.v. meteorologists mention it, and it’s been in full force the past week. it’s almost like living at the beach {minus the surf and sand} since it’s been storming every afternoon. a few days ago it rained so hard that the drains couldn’t hold the onslaught of water, and manhole covers were actually coming unattached! we went out to dinner that night and there were at least five cars pulled off to the side where the road had turned into a temporary river!

today  i was driving back from estes park {from an engagement session i can’t wait to share}, and i saw this… storms are so beautiful from a distance!

beaks only a mother could love

i was getting a little worried. bonsai and cici have been nesting in our stairwell for a while now, and a few days ago i saw a single broken egg on the ground, but no chirping. well, today i saw four little beaks that only a mother {and father} could love! my gosh are they ugly…

as always, i turned to emily – the naming expert – to help me out with these four birdies. emily obviously couldn’t name them sight unseen, so i sent her these pics. she determined that the two boys and two girls are hipsters, rounding off the perfect family of six. Introducing: ferdinand, simone, beckett and frances! {poor frances – the little one on the right. i think she’s the ugliest of them all! hopefully this is just a phase, and she’ll win the miss barn swallow beauty contest someday}.

cici was well aware that i was watching, so i didn’t stay long…

jackopierce. sonoma event photographer

the same weekend that i took tiphanie & jimmy’s engagement pics, david and i got the opportunity to photograph one of our favorite bands, jackopierce! it turns out that they played a show at the soiled dove, not even a mile from our place, and we got to talk with cary after the show. he invited us to some of his destination shows, and i asked if they needed a photographer. if only more opportunities like this would jump in my lap! jackopierce played  two shows on June 11 in wine country,  and both were amazing!

the first mini-concert {the founders’ lunch} was at arista winery, and started out with wine tastings. although we were offered drinks, neither of us felt right drinking while we were {working}, so we ended up leaving sonoma without ever tasting a drop of wine… i suppose that means we have no choice but to go back!

lunch was prepared by arista’s house chef, and it was amazing! this was also a time to meet and greet with jack and cary – what a fun opportunity!

there wasn’t a bad seat in the house! i was pretty excited about mine {and that i got to roam around freely!}

cary and jack {jackopierce} are amazing live! here’s just a snippet of what we got to enjoy…

after the show jack and cary spent time hanging out and taking pics with everyone. we were excited that we met so many people with georgia/colorado connections!

later that evening we headed to hanna winery, which was an equally amazing location!

delicious hors d’ oeuvres and an amazing dinner were served by gerard’s paella. mmm, good!

yet another show with not one bad seat!

jackopierce is going to be featured on troubadour tx, a new show for the wb! according to their site, “troubadour tx is a 22 one hour episode television series following talended singer songwriters as they chase their dreams across the lone star state.” The supervising producer, robin creasman, has known cary for years, so he was the one to come out and tape the shows {bottom left}.

special thanks to arista winery, hanna winery, robin creasman, gerard’s paella, and especially david mccollum of dryve artist management and jack and cary of jackopierce for having us at the events! it was great meeting and working with y’all!

It was nearly impossible to narrow down images for this post, so head over *here* to see more from arista winery, and over *here” for more from hanna winery!
